Strategic planning that takes place every year is very important, as it defines the framework within which the company will operate in the future. What levels of income are we planning? What costs and how many employees? How many investments can we make? Which markets are crucial to us and how can we increase our reach, or should we decide to decentralize? These are the questions that haunt most of the management team members of any company.
Planning systems enable us to work up projections and analyses of income and expenses, inflows and outflows on the basis of customers, months and people. This information is available to us anytime for the various decisions that are often tough to make. At the same time they help us to justify things that have already happened or have yet to happen easier.
Planning is that much more effective, if we are capable of comparing it with the up-to-date forecasts and in the end, with the actual realization. The complex organization structure of companies and the geographic diversity are not an obstacle, but are actually an advantage, as they enable so many more opportunities for optimization and more effective business operations.
